There is no limit to the number of recyclable bags but Allied will only pick up recyclables in the correct bags and sorted correctly.  Please do your part to make this service run smoothly and efficiently by sorting as follows:

How to Properly Bag Your Recyclables
Place together in a bag:  newspapers, brown paper bags, magazines, junk mail, phone books, boxboard (cereal and cracker boxes with liners removed: no plastic coated cartons), and corrugated cardboard (folded or cut to fit).

Place together in a bag:  colorless glass bottles and jars, metal and foil food containers, empty aerosol cans, and #1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs (look for the code on the bottom of the container).  PLEASE RINSE FOOD CONTAINERS.

If your properly bagged items are set out on time but not picked up, please call Resource Recovery promptly. Their number is 269-673-5415.

Other Recycling Information
All other recycling services remain the same. Appliances, tires, household batteries and Styrofoam, as well as cardboard boxes too large to fit into curbside recycling bags can be taken to the monitored depot at:
Salem Township Transfer Station on 29th Street, 1/4 mile South of 142nd Avenue
This site is open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the first and third Saturdays of the month from March through December. Residents must present their Resource Recovery cards, which were distributed by the Township to all who pay the annual recycling fee.

Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Information
Household hazardous wastes are accepted, by appointment, at the Allegan County Health Department on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the year. Call Resource Recovery to arrange a time to drop off oil based paints, flammable materials or toxic household products which should not be disposed of in household trash. Also, mercury thermometers, which pose a health hazard if they break, are accepted at the Health Department's front desk anytime during regular business hours at no charge.
